How We Refine Your Trash

What happens behind the walls of a precious metal refinery? On the following pages, we'll take a look at atypical refining operation. To make our story more personal, we'll assume that you have sent us a precious metal scrap lot. We'll describe, step by step, how we would process your scrap, from the time it arrives at our refinery to the time it's been assayed and you've received payment for its value.

We receive your scrap

From the moment your scrap lot arrives at our refinery, we handle it with utmost care-and on an individual basis.
If it's a sealed shipment, we verify the seal number against your shipping order. After verification, we break the seal, open the container and inspect the contents to make sure they correspond to your description. Finally we weigh your shipment on a digital readout scale. First we weigh the filled containers. Then we subtract the weight of the empty containers. The result is the net weight of your refining shipment.
If there's any discrepancy between what we find and the description on your shipping order, we notify you at once, so that the discrepancy can be cleared up. If everything checks, we assign a lot number to your shipment-and proceed to refine it.

We check your shipping order description and weight.

We assign an individual lot number your shipment.

We inspect the contents of each container.

A digital readout scale is used to weigh your scrap.
